Nutrition: Growth Charts

The calorie needs for childen are different for girls and boys.

Calorie needs for girls are related to their ideal weight. For example, a girl who is 9 years old and weighs 70 pounds needs about 1,750 calories per day.

A boy who is 9 years old and weighs 70 pounds needs close to 2,000 calories per day.

The way we figure this out is to look at the ideal weight and the growth charts for girls and for boys.

These growth charts are provided to give you information about the average physical growth for children ages 2 to 18.

You will also find a separate chart for prepubescent girls and boys.
