Nutrition: Balance

The concept we want to emphasize here is BALANCE. What you take in should be equal to what you consume:

Off Balance = Gain Weight
If your intake is more, your balance is off and you will gain weight.
If your output is much less than your intake, your balance is off and you will gain weight.

Off Balance = Lose Weight
If your intake is less, your balance is off and you will lose weight.
If your output is a lot (more than you intake), your balance is off and you will lose weight.

Intake Needs / Food Intake Daily Requirements
Your body needs the following to function:
1. Air
2. Water
3. Food

Balanced nutrition is important for your body to be able to perform its basic functions; such as providing you with the ability to move your muscles for your chest muscles to breathe; for your heart muscle to get enough energy to continue to beat; and for your muscles to have enough energy, oxygen, and nutrition to keep going for you to stay alive and well.

How much food do I need?
The function of food is mainly to provide you with energy and nutrients (building blocks).

For example, when you eat a piece of meat your body uses the fat in the meat to make energy or to store the excess fat so you can have enough fat to burn later on should you need that energy. Also, your body uses the protein in the meat to build needed substances in your body like enzymes and to maintain your body structures so you can continue to keep functioning.
