Heart Picture Gallery: Aneurysm of the Atrial Septum |

 This
beautiful girl, Erica Jubin, was inflicted with heart failure,
fever, and had developed Pulmonary Aneurysm as the result of
a clot which formed around her Atrium. She had her surgery at
the Mayo Clinic, and she is doing great. |

This is an echocardiogram of Aneurysm
of the Atrial Septum, which is like a weakness in the wall between
the Right Atrium and Left Atrium (Atrial Septum). The aneurysm
appears as a small bulging in the echocardiogram. This is usually
a transient finding in premature babies, but it can sometimes
induce abnormal heart beats (premature atrial beats). It can
sometimes be associated with very fast heart rhythm (tachycardia). |
