Norwood Operation
The first stage operation to fix the Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
defect consists of transection of the distal main Pulmonary Artery
and transection of the Aorta, then this is attached to an incision
in the Aorta. |

To keep the blood flowing to the
lungs a shunt is constructed from the newly formed Aorta to the
main Pulmonary Arteries. |
