Third-Stage Operation: Fontan Operation
When your child is 2 to 3 years
old he will need more oxygen supplied to him to grow, so doctors
will then perform a Fontan Operation.
This operaton diverts the blood
coming from the lower part of the body through the Inferior Venacava
to the main Pulmonary Artery.
The blood coming back from the
upper body to the heart goes to the Superior Venacava and is
diverted through the existing Glenn Operation to the right lung. |
